Joining Fluance in 2019, Duncan has been involved with Keyboards, Piano, Synths, Composition and Arrangement.
Duncan Mackay's musical career spans over forty years of worldwide achievements as a performer, composer and arranger.
He was awarded a musical scholarship to the prestigious Shrewsbury School and went on to achieve his music degrees - L.T.C.L / L.R.S.M with violin as his first instrument and church organ as his second. His classical understanding of music has been an integral part of his multi-faceted career.
Playing keyboards, he toured South Africa and Zimbabwe with his own band, composing and recording his first solo album, "Chimera."
Soon after moving back to the UK he joined Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. His first single with the band "Come Up and See Me, Make Me Smile" went to No 1. Cockney Rebel toured Europe and America and achieved four gold albums over the next few years.
As a session musician, he worked with Kate Bush, The Alan Parsons Project, Camel and Budgie, to name but a few.
Duncan then became a member of the world renowned group 10CC; His first recording with them resulted in the No 1 hit "Dreadlock Holiday", from the album "Bloody Tourists". Two more gold and platinum albums followed.
Three further solo albums were successfully released.
He was musical director and co-writer with Elkie Brooks for 3 years.
The early 1990's saw the result of a four year project, "Orchestal Evolution" a fusion of synthesisers and Orchestra, recorded in East Berlin with their 80 - piece Symphony Orchestra.
Since emigrating from England to South Africa in 1993, Duncan has written music for a number of SABC series.
He was commissioned by Animal Planet for the documentary "White Lions ; King of Kings," and he composed 20 songs and all the incidental music for the educational version of the UK cult cartoon character, "Pingu the Penguin."
From his Studio near Cape Town, Duncan has composed and recorded successful library albums of many genres for "KPM" (UK) and "Strange Fruit Productions" (Australia)
He recorded and produced 6 albums with SAMA winner, classical virtuoso guitarist, James Grace.
He recently toured the UK with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel to celebrate 40 years since the release of "Come up and see me make me smile."
In the last couple of years he has released 2 further solo albums"The Bletchley Park Project" and "Kintsugi"; on the Japanese label Belle Antique, Marquee Records.
His most recent released work is the Progressive Rock album "Lunacy" with the band "Fluance"(Belle Antique).
Philip and Jane Lane made contact with Duncan some way into the creation of Lunacy in 2019 and have been working with him ever since.
